Vuyani Wakaba and his good friend, fellow DR Strings endorser and master bassist Gros Ngolle Pokossi, will be teaching a free masterclass for Chicago area bass players. Vuyani’s portion of the masterclass will focus on teaching beginning & intermediate bassists on how to develop techniques to begin or improve the skills of playing jazz standards. The clinic will focus on exercises that each player can develop in order to be able to develop into a budding jazz musician.
Gros Ngolle Pokossi will focus his portion of the master class on rhythm. He will demonstrate and conduct an interactive session on how to develop a strong sense of rhythm, techniques on improving rhythm over “odd time” signatures, and other related topics.
Joining bassists Vuyani & Gros will be Andres Lopez on drums and Matt Berger on guitar.
The masterclass is sponsored by DR Strings, with additional support from Peterson Tuners, Gruv Gear and Music Nomad guitar polishes. The masterclass will be held at Kagen & Gaines music store in Forest Park, IL at 4:30pm on May 18, 2018.
